Security Agents Enforces Gov. Otu’s Directive, Intercepts Two Truck Loads Of Scrap Metal in Calabar

Security agents in Calabar, Thursday intercepted two trucks fully loaded with scrap metal.
This followed the directive of the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, directing the immediate “suspension of all activities of scrap metal in the State”.
In a release dated Tuesday, 25th July, and signed by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Edem Darlington, the Governor had directed that all activities of scrap metal within the state be suspended until “further notice”

In a swift reaction and in compliance with the governor’s directive, operatives of the state special task force, Operation Akpakwu on Thursday, intercepted two trucks load of scrap metal. The truck which had registration numbers KGM349 XA and UWN 634 XT, according to the drivers came in from neighboring Akwa Ibom State.
The drivers, Ozuah Elochukwu and Aruna Mohammed said “we came in from Akwa Ibom State and were asked to deliver the scrap to a company located within the state capital “

Both trucks have been impounded by the security agents and will be subjected to further investigation and necessary action.
