Why Dansuki, Ekpo Okon are misfits to represent the South

As the elections for the Presidency and National Assembly draws closer, an appraisal on the candidates becomes quite necessary.
In this piece, we will be concentrating on the Southern Senatorial District whose candidates are Hon. Asuquo Ekpenyong, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo and Ekpo Okon. We will provide an unbiased and neutral appraisal on each of them and recommend the best option.
Looking at his antecedent, before 1999, Daniel Asuquo otherwise known as Dansuki was a notorious cultist, his legacies in the killings of rival cult members and innocent citizens in the then Polytechnic college, Calabar remains fresh in the minds of Cross Riverians.
Through his notoriety and the support of his mother, he wangled his way into becoming the Akamkpa LGA chairman in 1999. Upon becoming chairman, he became the biggest sponsor of his cult organization in South South of Nigeria.
His dependence on diabolism is an open secret, in broad daylight, he brought all the baba-lawo’s in the state, particularly Akpabuyo in his memorable fight with Donald Duke, they invoked all the powers of the underworld into a casket with which they placed on the highway, blocking and restricting the then governor from passing. As tough as Donald Duke was at the time, he couldn’t help but advice himself to retreat.
In Daniel Asuquo you have someone who is not only notorious, diabolical but the most desperate with the highest sense of entitlement in Southern Senatorial District.
He was jailed for his cultism and civil crimes, an ex-convict who was pardoned by Gov. Liyel Imoke and brought back into leadership.
Through Imoke, he was handed the Akamkpa/Biase house of representatives seat. Under his three terms in the house of representatives, not one bill has he sponsored, not single project in constituency has he facilitated, when you hear of the exploits of Jarigbe while in the house of representatives, you can’t help but wonder if Dansuki isn’t in the same House of Reps as other performing MP’s.
After twelve years of no representation, he went and purchased a Senatorial ticket from the Labour party, a ticket in dispute with litigations in Court and is shamelessly parading himself as a Senatorial Candidate.
A man is defined by his antecedent while in public office. The people of the South have experienced quality representation and cannot allow themselves to be sentenced to a notorious cultist whose sense of entitlement is to enrich only himself.
Just recently, while Crossriverians were suffering and looking to the banks to access the new designed naira notes, Daniel Asuquo and his wife Mrs. Ekanem Asuquo who is the Branch Manager of Zenith Bank, Calabar colluded with branch Managers of other banks to hoard and keep the notes for her husband’s election vote buying, alas, luck ran out of them as the EFCC in a tip off swung into action and arrested her and her accomplices. The sufferings of Crossriverians in terms of scarcity of new notes was single handedly conceived and driven by the wife of Dansuki. If we thought Dansuki was desperate, he has a more desperate wife who will use her position to usher hardship on citizens of the State. In hospitals, thousands died over their inability to access funds for their hospital bills, an unfortunate situation orchestrated and driven by the wife of Dansuki, the blood of those innocent lives will be on her head.
Ekpo Okon otherwise known as the Judas of the South is a serial betrayer who has exhibited same through out his political career. On the issue of zoning, Ekpo Okon was one of the advocates who champion zoning among others including Sandy Onor etc, on several occasions, he had insisted that the peace the state enjoyed during elections was as a result of the power rotation formula.
Last year he was invited to Rivers State where he was paid handsomely and promised a Senatorial ticket to betray the south, he accepted the offer and is today the Senatorial Candidate of the South.
One thing is distinct about Daniel Asuquo and Ekpo Okon, they are both very diabolical and driven by selfish interest. They both look at the Senate as their retirement and pension package.
Other the hand, we have a young and enterprising Asuquo Ekpenyong Jnr, the immediate past Commissioner for Finance whose ingenuity saw the state win several awards on financial excellence including grants from global organization.
Asuquo Ekpenyong has shown the selfless liberality of a leader, as Commissioner for Finance, the lives he has touched are countless. A humble and accommodating individual who goes out of his way to reach the people, if it requires taking a boat across Rivers to reach the common and forgotten people, Asuquo Ekpenyong is on it…if it requires taking a bike to areas without motorable roads, Asuquo Ekpenyong is on it.. He is hungry to serve and provide quality representation.
By his antecedents and conduct, he is the only qualified candidate for the South. Ears can hear, eyes can see that he will make one the best senators the south has ever produced.
Make no mistakes, Asuquo Ekpenyong Jnr is the next Senator of the Southern Senatorial District
